Shine baby shine

Ho ho ho sweeties!

So a lot of you have been asking me about my make-up routine, and how I get my healthy glow. Let me tell you, taking good care of your skin is the biggest part of it. But never underestimate make-up when it comes to getting that 'I just woke up with this glow' - look. So I decided to share my favorite beauty products on the blog!

In this post I will only talk about the base, so no eye make-up or lips today loves. Only my tips and tricks to get perfect smooth, glowing, healthy looking skin. Isn't that what we all want for the upcoming holidays?

I know that some of my favorite products may not be available in Europe, so please shoot me your thoughts and questions about finding the best alternatives!

Happy holidays, and shine on loves!

xoxo

ps I'm working on filming some actual tutorials, so keep an eye on this beauty page!

My daytime make-up routine is actually a bit different than my look for a night out. During the day you want to have glowy skin without looking like a disco ball. That's just not the natural look I like to go for. I also think it's very important to wear some kind of SPF to protect your skin from any sun or environmental damage, even during winter!

So here are my daily go - to's: ( you can shop the products by clicking on the links )

Step 1

I always prep my skin with a good moisturizer. Especially during wintertime my skin can feel kind of dehydrated, so I'm loving this Bee Venom moisturizer by Rodial. Bee venom works with a unique complex of plant stem cells to help visibly improve skin tone and elasticity. It leaves you with smooth and plumped skin that makes the perfect make-up base.

Step 2

During the day I like to have some coverage but it has to be natural looking and not cakey. This CC Cream with SPF50 by IT Cosmetics has been a true life changer. I apply it with a damp ( not soaking wet ) beauty blender to even out and correct my skintone. Is gives uh-mazing coverage for a cc cream while looking like second skin. If you're going to invest in one item ladies, let it be this one!

Step 3

As I'm getting older, my under-eye area needs a little extra TLC. This Bye Bye Under Eye cream by IT Cosmetics smooths and brightens any lines and dark circles. It's the perfect base before applying your concealer. My current favorite is the Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination concealer by IT Cosmetics. I know I'm spamming you guys with this brand, but these products truly changed my daily beauty routine. Every product does what it promises while having a clean ingredient list. I apply a tiny drop of the shade 'medium' ( the shades are quite light so unless you have a really fair complexion I'd go up one shade ) and blend it with my finger.

Step 4

If you're fair skinned like me, you don't want to look ghostly white during wintertime. This Chanel Tan De Soleil cream bronzer gives me just a little bit more color, without looking orange or fake tanned. I love that this is a cream bronzer, it just looks more natural in daylight than powder, which helps me creating that healthy glow. I apply it in a dabbing motion with my damp beauty blender.

Step 5

And last but not least, let's get you that GLOW. Again I prefer a cream texture highlighter for my daytime look. One of my favorites is this Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Illuminator in the color 'spotlight'. It gives you the perfect healthy glow without any overwhelming glitter effect. Again I use a damp beauty blender to apply this ( did I mention you need this little sponge in your life? ) on the highest points of my cheekbones, the bridge of the nose and my cupid's bow. There's no actual rule when it comes to applying highlighter, it just depends on wether you like a lot of shine or you want to keep it subtle.

To finish my look I like to give some color to my cheeks with Nars Blush in 'orgasm'. This is the prettiest peachy pink blush EVER, and it leaves your cheeks with an extra subtle shimmer. If you have oily skin you can set your T-zone with some translucent powder. ( more about this in the next photo)

When I'm doing my make-up for a night out, I want my skin to look extra smooth and glowy.

These are my after dark favorites:

Step 1

After moisturizing ( first photo ) I prep my skin with the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. This is my all time favorite make-up primer. It blurs imperfections and leaves your skin with a radiant glow. I just apply it with my fingertips, thanks to our body temperature the texture just melts into the skin.

Step 2

With a foundation brush I apply my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 4.5 all over my face and neck. I've tried a lot of foundations in my life, but this lightweight one still remains my favorite. It has medium coverage with a radiant, silky finish. I love how it's matte but not cakey. This foundation also helps creating the perfect base to make your highlighter pop.

Step 3

Now it's time to conceal any under-eye shadows or dark circles. This Terrybly Densiliss Concealer by By Terry is the perfect nighttime concealer. It gives great coverage and thanks to the anti-aging ingredients it hydrates and firms the under-eye area. I use shade 2 'vanilla beige' and just dab it onto my skin with my ring finger. Be sure to do this gently, as the skin around our eyes is thinner and more sensitive. No rubbing sweeties!

Step 4

After creating a matte base, I like to bring my face to life with highlighter, and lots of it. I start by dabbing Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Cream in 'opal' onto the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and cupid's bow with my damp beauty blender. It's the prettiest golden pearl shade that melts into your skin. Then I set this cream highlighter with a powder highlighter for some extra sparkle. My absolute all-time favorite highlighter is Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Presses Powder in 'champagne pop'. It works perfectly on top of the first cream highlighter. Make sure to apply this with a soft fan brush like this one by Mac.

Step 5

When you're having fun on the dance floor and start getting sweaty, you want your make-up to stay in place. That's why I set my T-zone with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This is simply the best setting powder ever, there's no make-up artist who doesn't love this. But stay away from your cheeks with this powder, you want to keep your glow there.

Step 6

I like to finish my look with some light contouring. My trick to do this in a natural way is to use bronzer instead of a contouring powder, which is often grayish and unnatural looking. I love using this blush/bronzer duo by Nars. I apply the bronzing shade 'laguna' with a Nars brush in the hollows of my cheeks, on the temples of my forehead, and a little bit on the sides of my nose. Again, this is light contouring, I like to keep this natural because there's nothing more unflattering than having visible contouring lines on your face. I'll upload a video on here soon, so you can see exactly how I do this.

Then I use a soft blush brush to apply the blush in 'orgasm' on the apples of my cheeks.

And voila! Perfect glowing skin!
