Velvet is the hottest fashion trend for Fall/Winter 2016. Just like our beloved nineties' choker necklaces, denim jackets and bodysuits, this luxurious fabric is making a big comeback. Velvet dominated the catwalks during fashion week, and now you can easily incorporate this material into your everyday life.
I combined this trend with another big hit in the fashion scene, the white tee that you wear underneath your slip dress. It has a bit of a 'my mom made me wear this' - look, but it's also really cool and edgy. The white tee pairs amazingly well with little silk slip dresses too. Besides a cool look, you also get the insurance that nothing will 'slip out' during a busy day or night. What more can we wish for?

Accessories are really important when you're wearing something 'classic' like velvet. Trendy and contemporary details make the luxurious effect of velvet stand out even more. As this is another nineties trend (and I am a true nineties gal) I just had to wear a black velvet choker with this look.

I shot this look at this uh-mazing location in Silver Lake, 'The Bates Motel'. It's a creepy old motel that has been covered from top to bottom in lime wash by artist Vincent Lamouroux. Even the surrounding palm trees got the white-out treatment! This is definitely a really cool place to visit and take some photos when you're in LA.
